ICE trade Brkin to Chiefs, receive eighth round draft pick
Cranbrook, B.C. – The Kootenay ICE announced Monday it’s traded ’99-born goaltender Bailey Brkin to the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a 2019 eighth round draft pick.
In 23 games with the ICE this season, Brkin posted a 4.51 goals against average, a .874 save percentage and a record of 7-12-2-0.
Earlier in the day, the ICE acquired ’98-born goaltender Matt Berlin from the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The next home game for the ICE is Sunday, January 14 against the Saskatoon Blades. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m. That’s a Family Fun Day game presented by Ktunaxa Nation Council and will include face painters provided by Painted Turtle, a photo booth by Jo Mckinstrie, family music and an Autograph Alley presented by Tim Hortons.
In addition, the game will mark the first annual Minor Hockey Night and the ICE will be holding Billet Recognition Night presented by Dean Cockell, Portfolio Strategies.
