Off-season Eight: with Cam Hausinger

Cranbrook, B.C. – What has ICE 1999-born forward Cam Hausinger been up to during the 2018 off-season? What activities does he enjoy? And what are his goals for the 2018-19 season?

Hausinger has answered all of those questions and more in our feature called Off-season Eight.

(1) What are you most looking forward to when it comes to the 2018-19 season?

Answer: I’m really excited for what’s to come next season. Right now I’m just looking forward to coming into training camp and being able to see the guys and get things started. Just to be able to see people improve over the summer is great to see.

(2) What are your goals for the 2018-19 season?

Answer: My goal is to have team success. Like we have said in the past, “with team success comes individual success.” So as long as we improve and play to our potential, I see us doing some great things next season.

(3) What aspect of your hockey game have you been working on in the off-season?

Answer: My off-season is a never ending cycle of improving every aspect of my game. One thing that I’m really trying to focus on is building my lower body and trying to get quicker and faster.

(4) What is your favourite thing to do in the off-season?

Answer: This would probably be going out of town with family and friends for weekend trips. This could be camping, on the lake, or just going on a hike. Just to be able to spend that time with those people is what makes it special.

(5) What is the biggest thing you learned during last season that will help you moving forward as a player?

Answer: Just knowing and believing that your coaches are there to help you and turn you into a better player. So listening to them and their teaching points have helped me gain success in multiple aspects in my game.

(6) What is your favourite moment from last season?

Answer: There are a lot of favorite moments to choose from. I would have to pick our B.C. road trip. Sometimes being around the guys for that long can get a little tiring but it was a lot different and I think it was great to get that bond and be able to get closer with a lot of guys that I didn’t know so well.

(7) What did you think of the Stanley Cup playoffs?

Answer: It’s amazing what those guys can do. It’s the definition of the best hockey in the world and the way that they play with heart and desperation makes me realize why I love this game so much.

(8) What did you think of the 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup?

Answer: It’s an awesome event that allows the CHL to bring all three leagues together. It’s obviously a goal of ours to be able to get there and this is what we have been working towards since the day we came into WHL.
