WEEKLY ICE REPORT: March 20, 2017

ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE finished the 2016-17 season with a 14-46-10-2 record (8-21-6-1 at home, 6-25-4-1 on the road, 2-10 in overtime, 2-2 in shootouts) and in sixth place in the CENTRAL DIVISION…KOOTENAY failed to qualify for the playoffs for a second consecutive year…The ICE amassed the second-fewest wins (14) in Club history.

DID YOU KNOW: TROY MURRAY was named the STEEPLES CONSTRUCTION PLAYER OF THE MONTH for MARCH March 17…VINCE LOSCHIAVO led the ICE in MARCH scoring with 13 points (6-7-13) and finished the season on a seven game point streak (5-4-9)…CALE FLEURY appeared in his 200th career game March 17 against CALGARY…BARRETT SHEEN played in his 100th career game March 15 in LETHBRIDGE…KOOTENAY lost 180 man games to injury this season…Former ICE Forward ELGIN PEARCE (UNIVERSITY OF CALGARY) was named the U SPORTS MOST SPORTSMANLIKE PLAYER for the third consecutive season, as well as a FIRST TEAM ALL-CANADIAN for the 2016-17 season March 15…KOOTENAY alumni LEVI CABLE and TANNER LISHCHYNSKY (UNIVERSITY OF SASKATCHEWAN) claimed silver at the 2017 U SPORTS UNIVERSITY CUP in FREDERICTON, NEW BRUNSWICK…The HUSKIES fell 5-3 in the championship game to the NEW BRUNSWICK VARSITY REDS…ICE prospect PEYTON KREBS (FOOTHILLS BISONS) is competing in the AMHL finals versus the LEDUC OIL KINGS…LEDUC leads the best-of-five series 1-0…KOOTENAY prospect MICHAEL ARAKI-YOUNG (GREATER VANCOUVER CANADIANS) will compete in the 2017 BCMML finals versus the CARIBOO COUGARS.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 72 games of the 2015-16 season the ICE were 12-53-6-1.
