Fleury Named ICE Captain

Cranbrook, BC – Jeff Chynoweth, General Manager of the Kootenay ICE Hockey Club, today announced the Club has named Defenseman Cale Fleury as Captain. Forwards Vince Loschiavo, Austin Wellsby and Defenseman Kurtis Rutledge will serve as Alternate Captains.

“Cale Fleury has earned the respect of his teammates and coaches throughout his two and a half seasons with our Club because of his commitment to hard work both on and off the ice. Cale is only the fourth 18 year-old player to serve as Captain in our Club’s history which speaks to his maturity and leadership qualities,” added Chynoweth.

Cale Fleury becomes the 21st Captain in franchise history, and only the sixth Defenseman to earn the Club Captaincy (John Kachur – 1996-1997, Steve McCarthy – 1998-2000, Mike Green – 2000, Mike Comrie – 2000, Dean Arsene – 2000-2001, Jason Jaffray – 2001-2002, Jarret Stoll – 2001-2002, Colin Sinclair – 2002-2003, Nigel Dawes – 2003-2005, Adam Cracknell – 2005-2006, Ryan Russell – 2006-2007, Steve DaSilva – 2007-2008, Andrew Bailey – 2008-2009, Dustin Sylvester – 2009-2010, Brayden McNabb – 2010-2011, Drew Czerwonka – 2011-2012, Joey Leach – 2013, Sam Reinhart – 2013-2015, Luke Philp – 2015-2016, Tanner Lishchynsky – 2016).
