GAME DAY | ICE look for back-to-back wins, welcome Regina Pats

Cranbrook, B.C. – The Kootenay ICE (5-6-1-0) welcome the Regina Pats (7-5-1-0) to Western Financial Place on Tuesday night, the first meeting between the two teams this season.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The ICE have won three of their last four games, including victories over Moose Jaw and Swift Current. The latest win came Saturday evening against one of the best teams in the CHL – the Broncos – a 5-4 overtime victory.

ICE 1997-born forward Colton Kroeker reached an impressive milestone Saturday recording his 100th career WHL point – an assist on a power play goal by Cale Fleury. Kroeker would add two more points including the overtime winner.

With his three-point game, Kroeker is now tied for the team lead in points with 11 (5G, 6A) – 2001-born forward Peyton Krebs has 11 (2G, 9A) as well. 1998-born forward Vince Loschiavo has registered five points in the last five games and is tied third in team scoring with 7 (4G, 3A). 1999-born forward Brett Davis, 1997-born forward Alec Baer and 1998-born forward Barrett Sheen are also tied for third with 7 points.

The Pats are led by 1997-born forward Matt Bradley, who has 22 points (11G, 11A) in 13 games. Rookie forward Emil Oksanen is second in team scoring with 17 points (10G, 7A) and Anaheim Ducks draft pick Sam Steel is third with 15 points (4G, 11A).

The ICE have scored three power play goals in their last three games, including two against the Broncos Saturday night. The ICE are in the bottom five in the WHL in power play percentage going 7-for-51 (13.7%) with the extra man. The Pats are 16-for-61 (26.2%) with the man advantage, which is seventh in the league.

On the penalty kill, the ICE are 16th in the league killing off 44-of-57 (77.2%) penalties. The Pats are in the bottom three in the league, being successful on 40-of-57 (70.2%) penalty kills.

The ICE went 1-1-2-0 against the Pats in 2016-17, three of those games went to extra time.

The next time the ICE face the Pats is Wednesday, November 1 at the Brandt Centre in Regina.
