GAME DAY | ICE begin four-game home stand against Swift Current

Cranbrook, B.C. – The Kootenay ICE (4-6-1-0) begin a four-game home stand against the Swift Current Broncos (9-1-0-0) on Saturday at Western Financial Place.
Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The ICE and Broncos have played once this season already with Swift Current picking up a 5-2 victory. This is the first visit to Cranbrook for the Broncos this season.
Heading into Saturday’s game, the ICE are led in scoring by 2001-born forward Peyton Krebs (2G, 8A). 1997-born forward Colton Kroeker is second with eight (4G, 4A).
1998-born forward Tyler Steenbergen – the WHL’s points leader – leads the way for the Broncos with 20 goals and 30 points in 10 games this season. 1999-born forward Aleksi Heponiemi and 1997-born forward Glenn Gawdin are second and third on the team in scoring with 26 and 22 points respectively.
The Broncos top three point producers account for 78 of the team’s points. Steenbergen has scored 42 per cent of the team’s goals – Steenbergen has 20 and the Broncos have collectively scored 48.
Broncos’ goaltender Logan Flodell is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 15, 2017. Flodell posted a 2-0-0-0 record with a goals against average of 1.00, a save percentage of .976 and one shutout.
The ICE enter Saturday’s contest near the bottom of the WHL in power play percentage. The ICE have capitalized on 5-of-41 (12.2%) tries with the man-advantage while the Broncos have converted on 13-of-44 (29.5%) attempts.
The ICE are ranked eighth in penalty kill percentage killing off 39-of-49 (79.6%) penalties. The Broncos are one spot ahead having killed off 28-of-35 (80.0%) penalties.
The next meeting between the ICE and the Broncos is January 3 in Swift Current. The Broncos return to Western Financial Place on February 3.
