ICE ink third overall import draft pick Gilian Kohler

Cranbrook, B.C. – The Kootenay ICE Hockey Club is pleased to announce the signing of import draft pick Gilian Kohler.

The ICE selected the Switzerland forward third overall in the 2017 CHL Import Draft.

“We are excited to welcome Gilian to ICE country officially on Swiss National Day,” said Matt Cockell, President and General Manager. “He is a dynamic, skilled forward and it will be exciting to support his development as a member of the ICE.”

Kohler recently attended the Switzerland U18 summer camp and will compete at the upcoming Ivan Hlinka tournament beginning next week.

The 2000-born Kohler recorded nine goals and 51 points as part of EHC Biel in Junioren Elite last season. The 5’10, 172-pound forward finished the 2016-17 campaign third in league scoring.

Kohler also spent time on the Switzerland U17 and U18 teams last season, including the U18 World Junior Championships as an underage player.

Season seats for the 2017-18 ICE season can be purchased by calling 250-417-0322, stopping by the Kootenay ICE office at Western Financial Place or ordering online at ICEcountry.ca.
