Weekly ICE Report: March 21, 2016

ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE finished the 2015-16 season with a 12-53-6-1 record (10-22-4-0 at home, 2-31-2-1 on the road, 3-6 in overtime, 1-1 in shootouts)…The ICE did not qualify for the playoffs this season for the first time since the 1997-98 campaign, while also ending a WHL record 16 year run of seasons with a .500 or better record (1999-2015)…The 12 victories recorded by KOOTENAY this season set a new franchise low for wins in one season…The ICE also amassed the second-most losses (53) second-fewest points (31) in club history.

DID YOU KNOW: WYATT HOFLIN set a new franchise record for most saves in a shutout performance (51) March 15 versus EDMONTON, breaking his previous high of 48 (November 22, 2014 at MEDICINE HAT)…ZAK ZBOROSKY reached the 30-goal mark for the first time in his career March 18 versus CALGARY…TANNER LISHCHYNSKY scored his first career game-winning goal March 15 against the OIL KINGS…MATT ALFARO made his 200th career regular season appearance March 15 versus EDMONTON…KOOTENAY lost 263 man games to injury this season…Former ICE blueliner JAGGER DIRK (ST. FRANCIS XAVIER X-MEN) won a silver medal at the 2016 CIS UNIVERSITY CUP in HALIFAX March 20…The X-MEN fell 3-1 in the championship game to the NEW BRUNSWICK VARSITY REDS…ICE prospect LOEDEN SCHAUFLER (NOTRE DAME HOUNDS) is currently competing in the SMHL finals versus the TISDALE TROJANS, the best of five series is tied 1-1.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 72 games of the 2014-15 season the ICE were 37-31-1-3.
