BANK OF MONTREAL MASTERCARD -  WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

 

Calgary - The Bank of Montreal MasterCard - Western Hockey League Player of the Week is forward Marcel Hossa of the Portland Winter Hawks.  Hossa earned player of the week honours by recording four goals and five assists in four games.  Hossa helped lead the Winter Hawks to a 3-1 record for the week.

 

On Wednesday, March 14^th, Hossa scored two goals in a 4-1 victory over the Chiefs in Spokane. On Friday, March 16^th, Hossa recorded two assists in a 6-3 loss to the Rockets in Kelowna. 

 

On Saturday, March 17^th, Hossa recorded a goal and two assists in a 5-1 win over the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds.  On Sunday, March 18^th, Hossa scored a goal and added one assist in a 5-1victory against visiting Kelowna Rockets.

 

Hossa, a 19-year-old, from Stara Lubovna, Slovakia, is tied for team scoring with 32 goals and 85 points in 55 games played.   He was a draft choice of the Montreal Canadiens in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

 

Honourable mention goes to Carsen German of the Kelowna Rockets.
