  • Assistant General Manager of the Saskatoon Blades Hockey Club of the Western Canada Hockey League (WCHL) - 1971 to 1972
  • Joined WCHL in November 1972
  • President of the WCHL since 1972 with the exception of the 1979-80 season when he became a minority partner and general manager of the Calgary Wranglers (first full time president of the WCHL)
  • Started the Canadian Major Junior Hockey League (now known as the Canadian Hockey League) in 1973 and became the league's first president in 1975
  • Chairman of the 1974 Memorial Cup and all other Memorial Cups hosted by the WHL
  • Played an instrumental role in getting the Canadian Major Junior Hockey League and Canadian Amateur Hockey Association to form a policy committee to oversee and operate Canada's World Junior Team
  • Past president of the Saskatoon Minor Hockey Association
  • Canadian Major Junior Hockey League Distinguished Service Award - 1977
  • Recipient for Distinguished Service Award from Canadian Major Junior Hockey League - 1983
  • Appointed to Federal Government Commission of Fair Play - 1986
  • Awarded Canadian Amateur Hockey Association Order of Merit in 1986 for service to Canadian amateur hockey
  • Appointed to International Centre of Excellence and Hockey Development Committee - 1987
  • Appointed to Hockey Hall of Fame Selection Committee - 1990
  • Awarded WHL expansion franchise for Edmonton on Aug. 5,1995
  • Appointed Western Hockey League Chairman of the Board, June 1996
  • Inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame - May 2000
