ICE Blanked By Tigers Tuesday

Mar 02, 2016 - 02:19 MST

Matt Bradley put up three points, while Nick Schneider turned aside all 19 shots he faced as the Medicine Hat Tigers shut out the Kootenay ICE 3-0 Tuesday at Canalta Centre.

The Tigers scored twice in the first period, then added an insurance marker in period three as the ICE were resigned to a setback in the first outing on their four game road swing.

Medicine Hat shot out of the gate, going ahead 1-0 when leading goal-getter Max Gerlach snapped a puck home from the right wing circle 1:17 into the game. Bradley added a second marker nine minutes later when he worked his way to the high slot before firing a low shot through the legs of Kootenay netminder Declan Hobbs.

After a scoreless second period, the Tigers extended their lead just past the midpoint of the final frame on a goal from forward Zach Fischer. The Medicine Hat winger tapped in his third tally of the season after a hard slap-pass from blueliner Clayton Kirichenko found his tape at Hobbs' right post.

The ICE finished 0-3 on the power-play, while the Fischer goal stood as the Tigers' only marker on seven man-advantage opportunities.

Hobbs made 34 saves in goal for Kootenay.
