ICE, Americans battle for second time in less than a week

 

Cranbrook, B.C. – The Kootenay ICE continue their pre-season schedule against the Tri-City Americans at Toyota Centre in Kennewick, Washington Tuesday night.

The ICE are coming off a three-game tournament in Kennewick where they finished with a record of 1-2.

The ICE played their first pre-season game of 2017 against Tri-City Thursday night, losing 7-0. In that game, forward Maxwell James led the way for the Americans scoring four goals and adding an assist. Forward Nolan Yaremko had two goals and two assists while defenceman Sergei Sapego finished the game with three assists. ICE goaltender Mario Petit stopped 25-of-32 shots while Americans’ goaltenders Patrick Dea and Beck Warm combined to make 30 saves for the shut out.

Forward Barrett Sheen heads into Tuesday’s game as the leading scorer for the ICE with three goals. Sheen and Colton Kroeker lead with team with three points.

The ICE have been outscored 18-8 in pre-season despite outshooting their opponents 101-85. The ICE are 1-for-14 (7.1%) on the power play and 3-for-13 (76.9%) on the penalty kill.
