Mar 04, 2014 - 08:56 MST

High River (AB), March 3, 2014–Western Financial Group (Western) is standing up against bullying by showing its support with a pink puck toss set for the second intermission of the Kootenay ICE’s home game against the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday, March 7 at Western Financial Place. Numbered pink hockey pucks will be handed out to the first 3,000 fans entering the arena. During second intermission, fans will be asked to ‘stand up’ against bullying and throw their puck onto the ice. The individual whose puck lands closest to the target during the toss will win a private suite for 10 people plus a $250 food credit for a 2014 KootenayICE playoff game.

As part of the festivities, Western is also giving away $1,500 in school bursaries. Local schools in attendance which show the most school spirit towards stopping bullying will have the chance to take home one of three $500 Western Financial Group bursaries. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to this game to show their support.

“This is the second time we have been part of this campaign to stand up against bullying,” said Pete Stefano, regional vice president, Western Financial Group. “Western is committed to supporting the communities where we live and work, and this is an important cause for us to be involved with. We know bullying is an important issue in all communities, and we are proud to play a part in raising awareness.”

As part of this initiative, Western employees in Cranbrook will once again be wearing pink in their branches on Friday, March 7.
