A McGill University student, W.F. Robertson organized the first recorded hockey game in Canada 1865. The game was played between two teams of McGill students on the Montreal campus. Robertson developed the first set of hockey rules. He adapted field hockey rules to play on ice. In his rules, teams consisted of nine players on a side, using a square puck. Believe it or not.
