![]() WHAT IS A CHAMPION OF THE ICE? Champions of the ICE are Kootenay ICE fans, community leaders and business people who understand the importance of the Western Hockey League to Cranbrook and the entire Kootenay Region. This group has taken it upon themselves to be "champions" of the Kootenay ICE, with the common goal of supporting and promoting the ICE on an ongoing basis. Champions of the ICE are volunteers who recognize the economic, social and entertainment value of the Kootenay ICE to our region. We have diverse backgrounds, but have the passion for the continuing success of Major Junior Hockey in the Kootenays.
The Core Purpose of the Champions of the ICE and our specific direction is: 1. To foster and develop links with the public and business community to generate a broad base for financial and public support, with an emphasis on increasing ticket sales to Kootenay ICE home games. 2. To develop and promote community based programs that will acquire and distribute tickets to individuals, who would not normally have an opportunity to attend ICE games. 3. To serve as an independent organization that acts as a goodwill ambassador of the Kootenay ICE. 4. To work towards making the Kootenay ICE the best small market team in the Canadian Hockey League. REQUIREMENTS TO BE A CHAMPION OF THE ICE 1. Champions of the ICE must: a) Be prepared to work towards our common vision. 2. Membership applications are available at the Kootenay ICE office, or you can telephone 250-417-0322 and a Membership application will be sent to you. 3. To help with our working capital needs, there is a membership fee. 4. For further information on becoming a member, please feel free to contact Ron Sheffield at or by calling 250-426-8031. REACH OUT PROGRAM The Reach Out Program involves finding sponsors who will purchase "special season tickets" for comminuty organizations that will distribute the tickets to children, adults and seniors who would not normally have an opportunity to attend Kootenay ICE home games. The price of Reach Out Program season tickets is $325.00. The sponsors are acknowledged on the tickets. The Champions of the ICE, in conjunction with the Kootenay ICE, will acknowledge the sponsors at Kootenay ICE home games and various media events. |
